I love burgers always have and always will. But lets face it they are not the healthiest choice while trying to lose weight. Well this recipe from the Biggest Loser Cookbook can help.

Almost Fast Food Burger

Ingredient List

1 Tablespoon of Low-fat Mayonnaise

1/2 Teaspoon ketchup

1/2 Teaspoon yellow mustard

1/4 Pound 96% lean ground beef

1 Slice (3/4 ounce) fat-free American cheese

1 Whole-grain or whole wheat hamburger bun

1/4 Cup of chopped romaine lettuce leaves

1 Thin slice red onion

3 Dill pickle rounds

Directions

Mix the Ketchup, Mustard and mayonnaise in a small bowl and set it aside. Shape the beef into a patty about a 1/2 inch wider than the bun.

Over medium heat on the BBQ, indoor grill or a non stick pan. Cook the patty until it has reached your desired doneness.

Once the patty has been fully cooked place it on the bottom bun and top it with the cheese, lettuce, onion and pickles. Pour the ketchup/mustard/mayo mixture over the burger and top with the other half of the bun.

  1. I sounds so simple to prepare. So I am going to try this and check its taste. Will be back with its comments.

  2. My hubby and I love good burgers. It’s hard to get healthy and tasty, but we stumbled onto something wonderful while looking for a healthy option – buffalo. Using lean ground buffalo from our local grocery store and making the patties with Worcestershire sauce is divine. We also use some regular sourdough bread instead of buns. I don’t need any plain ol’ regular bread getting between me and the meat! :) Husband uses a piece of Havarti cheese, but I think it tastes good without the cheese.

MMmmm, just thinking about it makes me hungry. I’m going to ride my bike to the grocery store and get some buffalo meat for dinner tonight!

  3. @fitbethlin I’ve seen buffalo meat at the grocery store but I haven’t been brave enough to try it yet. I’ll try it soon enough, maybe this summer :)

  4. Love burgers
    Hate Mayonnaise

When I go to any burger place
I always get a no Mayo burger
    Lots of ketchup
Unfortunately mustard is an avoid in my diet (thyroid issue)
Heavy / Double / Add on all veggies

  5. I love all in the ingredient’s list and i will really try that one. Eating burger is just like paying off myself for a job well-done, well at least for me. Nice post!
