Biggest Loser Cookbook Recipes
October 10, 2007 1:00 am RecipesIt’s no secret that I am a fan of the Biggest Loser TV show. I have heard a lot of people bashing it, saying that it doesn’t reflect real life. Citing that no one can workout 5 hours and day, have personal trainers at every workout and that the losses aren’t realistic.
Well that may be somewhat true, I think that the inspiration, motivation and awareness it raises about weight loss and adopting a healthy lifestyle far out weight any flaws it might have.
I purchased the Biggest Loser Cookbook a while ago and I’ve been very impressed with it ever since. (you can read my review of it here) Over the next few weeks I will be posting some of my favorite recipes from it.
Try this one out and let me know what you think.
Energizing Bacon and Egg Breakfast Burrito
Ingredients
3 large egg whites
1 strip Turkey Bacon, chopped
¼ cup of chopped onion
2 Tbsp of chopped tomato
1 (8 inch) whole wheat tortilla
¼ cup shredded light cheddar cheese
2 Tsp red taco sauce
In a small skillet over medium heat cook the Turkey bacon until almost crispy, then add the onion. Stir for 1-2 minutes then add the tomato. Stir for another 2 minutes. Once everything is cooked transfer the mixture to a bowl. Cover to keep it warm.
Crack the 3 egg whites into a bowl and microwave them for 30 second intervals until they are fully cooked. Break the egg up into smaller pieces, mix them together with the other ingredients.
Place the tortilla in the skillet and heat for 1 minute per side. Once it has been warmed, transfer it on to a plate. Take the cheddar cheese and spread it evenly over the tortilla. Lay all of the cooked ingredients on top of the cheese and drizzle the hot sauce over everything.
Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling and enjoy.
Note: I hate eggs cooked in the microwave, to me they taste like rubber. So instead I add the eggs to the skillet once the other ingredients have been cooked, sort of like an omelet.

I never liked biggest loser - but then I watched a marathon of it just before the new season started and I changed my mind — I think you’re right - the awareness it brings to the folks and the inspiration far out weighs the flaws.
I got their cookbook a few months ago and I do like some of the recipes.
I feel the main point to learn from it all is that it’s going to take hard work and dedication - getting healthy and losing a lot of weight (and keeping it off) is not possible with a quick fix or fad. But it is SOOOOOO worth it and can be done.
Health and Happiness, Lady Rose (over 90 lost so far, a mere 50ish to go)

The Biggest Loser is definately one of my favorite shows for sure.
I really like how some of the recipes are healthier versions of your problem foods.
I don’t think you need to cut out all the junk to lose weight, that is how you set yourself up for failure.
Lady Rose, Congratulations on your weight loss 90 lbs is an amazing feat. You should really be proud of yourself.
Thanks for your comments

I haven’t watched it for a couple of seasons but really liked the show… The one guy, I think he won one of them, Gary I think is his name came into the store I work at last year and he was still skinny… so it sure worked for him..

The winners definitely have the most dramatic changes. Last years winner ( I can’t remember his name ????) lost over 200 Lbs, The difference was like night and day.
Gary was one of my favorites. He also did a recap of every episode, the season after he won for the Biggest Losers main website.
Thanks for the comment Kimberly

I love the Biggest Loser show. It’s amazing the amount of weight they do lose. The show also give lots of great tips and exercise ideas to help motivate you. Then again I’ve heard that the only motivation you really need is to look at yourself naked in front of a mirror.

That show does have some good tips but I am find now that it’s becoming to commercialized.
Their tips are centered around what ever product they push or whatever company is sponsoring them.
It’s smart business but I think it takes away from the message.
