I know I know how are these 2 things tied together? Well in a word it’s stress.

First off I’d like to say that my prayers and thoughts are with those people that are in the direct path of the current hurricane line up in the Atlantic. I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like to live through these year after year.

I have been watching the hurricane updates daily, the more I read and see the more stressed I get.

O’ Canada

I live in Canada and Hurricanes really don’t affect us all that much. A few thunderstorms and some heavy rain but that’s about it. So normally I don’t concern myself with Hurricane season and just pray for the safety of the people in those regions. Until this year…..

Disneyland

This Sunday is the start of our family’s first Walt Disney World vacation. We leave on Sunday and are in Disney for a week. We have being saving for a while and my kids are so excited to go that they can’t sleep.

As you can imagine I want them to have a great vacation which I’m sure we will. But these damn Hurricanes are stressing me out!!

The last time I was on vacation I gained 6 pounds. Well those pounds are gone and then some. I’m sure that exercise and returning to my healthy eating habits contributed to the weight loss but the biggest factor has been the stress.

As you can see there are quite a few storms/hurricanes to keep track of. Since I will be in Florida I can only assume that all of them will hit Florida, as that is just my luck.

There are only 2 things keeping me sane at this point:

1. Is knowing that I will be with my family at Disneyland and that has me smiling already. Rain or shine we will have a great time.

2. I get to return to my home. After all is said and done I will still have a place to go that has not been touched by the Hurricanes.

What do you think, am I being selfish? Have you ever been though a Hurricane?
Am I over reacting to all these “updates and watches”?

  1. I’d worry!

  2. Having been through a couple of mild hurricanes (each time while on vacation), all I can say is, “Have a safe trip.”

  3. Very much stress related – stress eating is a big problem for me, and if I was looking at a hurricane I know I’d be stressed!

  4. stress is a huge factor in becoming unhealthy. some people when they are stress they eat lots of foods and it is not good for them. people eat when they are stress. why are they eating when they are stress? did they eat healthy foods if they are stress. that’s the problem. if you are stress you should pick the food you are going to eat. be sure it is healthy. if not, this is a problem you might become unhealthy.

  5. Stress is not good! I agree, it can effect your eating habits, make you feel un motivated, tired etc.

It can not be an easy time for people in the path of these large storms. Luckily I live in the UK and we do not see anything like this! We just hear and see it on the news.
