Weightloss Books

Below you will see my reviews on the various weight loss and exercise books that I read. I've incorporated different elements from each book into my daily life in one way or another, and have yet to find the perfect all in one book.

The Biggest Loser Cookbook

Not only does The Biggest Loser Cookbook have over 125 great tasting receipes but it also includes, the biggest loser diet plan, the exercise plan, and profiles on the current and previous cast members.

The recepies are broken down into 6 sections Breakfast: Hearty Snacks: Sandwiches, soups and stews: Sides and Salads: Main Courses and finally Sweet Snacks.

Chef Devin Alexander and the cast memebers have created some really good low fat and low cal dishes that you can fit into your everyday life. Some of my favorites are the Almost fast food burger, Energizing bacon and egg breakfast burrito and the Parmesan-pepper sweet potato fries.

All recipes have the nutrional info listed as well as comments from the chef and cast members. Throughout the book there are trainer tips on healthy eating and proper exercise. This book proves that healthy food doesn't have to bland and flavourless.

You can get some of these recipes for free by signing up for the biggest loser newsletter Here you will also get their tips and success stories. Be warned though they send emails everyday trying to convince you to sign up for the $5 a week program.

What does it take to develop really hard, well defined abs? Not sure, well the the Abs Diet author David Zinczenko thinks he has the answer.

The Abs Diet is a six week plan to flatten your abs. But it is so much more than just a plan for the stomach, it's a new way of thinking about how your body burns calories and the foods that aid in that.

The power foods are the 12 essentials that when listed together spell out Abs Diet Power. Most of these are common sense foods and nothing that would have shocked you to be seen as a health food.

The main teaching of the diet is that you need to eat more food, more often in order to ramp up your metabolism which in turn will burn more calories at rest. Peppered throughout the book are various success stories using the abs diet plan and health bulletins on topics such as High Blood Pressure and Cancer Cells.

The most important aspect of this book I beleive is the exercise section. There are a range of exersices that work all parts of the body. Using your own body weight, dumbells or various other non expensive equipment. (exersice ball, pull up bar etc..)
